Licorice - The most effective natural herbal remedies for upset stomach is licorice. Take 2 tablets three times a day with meals. Read more below.

Natural Herbal Remedies to Stop Heartburn

Don’t eat so much - I understand some foods are impossible not to eat a lot of, like, pizza, ice cream, cookies and cakes, anything at a BBQ and many more foods but try not to take that last bite….

Don’t sit or lay down after eating - This only makes it worst. It puts pressure on your stomach which pushes the food up into your esophagus. That’s why they say not to do strenuous exercise, or work after eating. Let the food go down a little before doing anything. Half an hour should be enough to let the food digest and start on its way down your digestive track.

Standing after eating can help with heartburn. By standing and waiting until your “food goes down” with help keep your esophagus clear of acid that causes heartburn.

Eating slower - Eating slower allow your stomach to digest the food a little bit at a time. That’s why dinners used to be served in courses. You know…the seven course meals at the White House or that fancy restaurant. It’s so your stomach can do its job so you won’t have any upsets tummies.

If you don’t have any of these natural herbal remedies around then you can try some ginger tea. A couple of slice in some hot water and let steep for ten minutes will help with heartburn. Ginger is not real for indigestion but is mostly for nausea, vomiting and water/air sickness but it will work for heartburn.

Licorice root contains a chemical called glycyrrhiza that can raise blood pressure. However, they have tablets that this compound has been remove making it save to take. Popping a couple tablets before meals not only helps prevent heartburn, it’s reputed to soothe and heal the esophageal tissue by decreasing inflammation and ulceration. There are also several licorice teas that will do the same thing and can be drank while eating.

The main cause of stomach indigestion is over eating. Sorry that’s just the way the body works. Your stomach is a muscle and it will expand but your stomach is also the size of your fist. So if you put too much food or drink in your stomach at one time you will end up with heartburn.

Using natural herbal remedies to calm your stomach down should be an everyday thing. Even when you have to eat on the run. Be sure you have some mint, cinnamon, or even a carrot on hand when you’re on the move.

Great tips, thanks! Another couple that work really well are fennel seeds–just sucking on them or chewing them after a meal and taking pancreatic enzymes, which help with digestion after a big meal. Great post!
