Pain Relief for the Men in your Life- Natural Herbal Remedies for PMS

Part 4 of 8 of “Medicine Cabinet in Your Kitchen”

Mother Nature’s Best Natural Herbal Remedies For Pain

If you’re female then you have PMS, bloating, water retention, and cramps! There is nothing worst than “that time of the month” except if you’re a man then you get to suffer right along with the female in your life. Here’s a natural herbal remedies to help both of you through “that time”.

I don’t think men realize how much women hold in during “that time”. Just so you know men, women hold back a LOT since we suffer for at least two weeks a month with symptoms from our periods. But there is relief with natural herbal remedies for this “time of the month”.

So, men, it pays to know how to make this recipe for “that time” for the woman in your life. I kind of feel sorry for the men who have all girls in their families, don’t you? So, gentlemen, pay attention!

I knew this natural herbal recipe since my great grandmother gave it to me but like all teenagers I knew better than she did so I didn’t use it until later in my life. Boy, was that a mistake! Once I got over that stage, I started listening to her and starting using this natural herbal remedies for two week out of every month. I felt much better and now I want to share it with everyone who suffers from “that time of the month”.

Of course, this includes everyone on earth so I hope you listen to me on this because this REALLY helps with all the suffering from “that time”.

I usually make a BIG batch on a Saturday or Sunday so I have it around. It makes into a tincture and tinctures last for a very longtime so you’ll always have some around. See below for the Queen of Cramp Remedy.

To help with the rest of the month there are several natural herbal remedies that will take care of different types for pain. Pain from headache, arthritis, pulled muscles or any other types of pain that make you miserable. Add these to your food when cooking and they will reduce any misery you’re suffering from.

Natural Herbal Remedies for Pain

Neurotransmitters are a chemical that carries messages between nerve cells and tells your brain that you’re hurt. The body’s natural response is to swell up to protect that area from further injury, not to mention the pain your brain tells you you’re in.

It’s just the body’s way of letting you know what’s up. There are several natural herbal remedies that can help relieve pain until the injury is healed.

Capsaicin - (Capsicum annuum): Mothers Nature’s best natural herbal remedies - not just cayenne peppers, either. Capsaicin, that’s the hot stuff in hot peppers and it’s one of the best herbs for pain. Most types of peppers, such as Cayenne, Jalapeños, Chile peppers, Cherry, Habanero, Serrano, Mirasol, Thai Chile, Banana, Yellow Wax, just to name a few peppers, contain capsaicin.

Capsaicin is in little sacks inside the pepper and breaks open when the pepper is handled. Like when they’re picked and thrown into a barrel and shipped to the store. So, by the time you get them all the little sacks of Capsaicin are broken open and you get the fiery hot taste in the pepper.

Now, I prefer to use Capsaicin from the inside out (eaten) but there are creams and lotions that contain Capsaicin that you rub on the injury, muscle pain or arthritis to help relief the pain. You can get them over-the-counter at your pharmacy. You can also use the dried herb, it still contains capsaicin.

I prefer to eat peppers everyday with my food. I grow my own peppers since they are one of the easiest herbs to grow. Try fresh picked jalapeños in scrambled eggs sometime and see if they aren’t the best eggs you’ve ever had. Fresh picked peppers aren’t as hot as the one you buy in the store. Try growing your own and see. Or mix them in whatever you’re cooking for dinner or lunch.

I’ve had arthritis since I was 8 years old and have eaten peppers since then so I haven’t suffered a lot with pain from it. We had a harsh winter here in Florida this year so all my pepper plants took a hit. I haven’t had a fresh pepper since January and I can tell the difference with my arthritis. Lots of pain and swelling so I know peppers work for my arthritis and they’ll work for yours too. They also work for other pain as well. I think it’s one reason I don’t have pain with my arthritis or any other pains.

 A Word of Caution!

Too many times I have gotten Capsaicin in my eyes. It will stick to your hands like glue. Even though it’s a great natural herbal remedies, it burns like crazy. So do yourself a favor and use gloves - I use disposable gloves most of the time.

Capsaicin on your hands:

Capsaicin is an oil and that means it’s NOT water solvable. After handling hot peppers DO NOT USE WATER - it only spreads the oil around. Wash your hands in vinegar, milk, alcohol (the drinking kind, vodka is good) or some people use a combination of chlorine or ammonia mixed with water (1 part to 5 parts water), and believe it or not, WD-40. It mixes with the Capsaicin and when you use soap and water to wash off the WD-40 it takes the Capsaicin with it.

Capsaicin in your mouth or on your skin:

Remember Capsaicin is an oil so drinking water only spreads it around, you need to eat or drink something that breaks up the oil. Like fat in dairy products. The fat will dissolve the Capsaicin. A dab of sour cream, a spoonful of yogurt, or swooshing milk around your mouth will break up the Capsaicin. Coconut milk is also good to use. You can also use these on your skin. Using nonfat or 2% won’t work because it’s the fat that breaks it down.

It’s the reason Mexican, Indian and Thai restaurants serve yogurt, sour cream and coconut milk condiments with their dinners.

Another Natural Herbal Remedies For Pain:

Arnica (Arnica montana): Athletes have long relied on arnica to reduce the pain, swelling and bruising that go with sprains and strains. But this natural herbal remedies can be a powerful weapon against osteoarthritis. A comparison of ibuprofen and a topical arnica gel found that arnica was just as effective for pain and hand function in people with osteoarthritis of the hands. But arnica’s benefit doesn’t just apply to arthritis.

A group of researchers from the Queen Victoria Hospital in Sussex, England, found that when applied arnica is a first-line defense against the pain of carpel tunnel syndrome, too.

 The Queen of Cramp Remedies

1.5 ounces of Black Haw
1.0 ounce of Cramp Bark
1.0 ounce of Trillium (dried) (OR Cotton Root Bark)
1/2 ounce of Wild Yam
1/4 ounce of Skullcap (recently dried)
1.0 ounce of Cloves
3/4 ounce of Cinnamon Bark
1/2 ounce of Orange Peel

Grind herbs together, moisten with a few tablespoons of alcohol, and let sit, covered, overnight. Make into a Tincture with 50% alcohol menstruum to a 1:4 tincture (about 26 ounces). Add 6.5 ounces (by volume) of Simple Syrup to bring the final strength to 1:5.

You MAY substitute equal parts of glycerin and honey for the syrup, but it tastes weird. Take 1-3 teaspoons in HOT water for killer cramps, during “that time”.
